Walnut Run Golf Course is a Public 18 hole golf course located in Cortland, Ohio.
Walnut Run first opened for play in 1987 as a 9-hole layout. The course, which extended from nine to eighteen holes in 1996. The course was designed by Hank Haynam and Pete Hanen.
Walnut Run was built on predominantly flat terrain, but there are some hills which can cause uneven lies. Walnut Run Creek flows through this course and comes into play on six holes, plus there are several well-placed sand bunkers you'll want to avoid. The large greens vary in undulation, and the trees, which are scattered about the course, will sometimes force you to alter your shots.
Par for the course is 72. From the back tees the course plays to 6,760 yards. From the forward tees the course measures 4,907 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 10, a par-5 that plays to 575 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 8, a par-3 that plays to 150 yards from the back tees.
Watch out for # 6, a 425 yard par-4 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole at Walnut Run Golf Course is # 14, a 370 yard par-4.

I have already ranked the golf course itself, but this time Im ranking the driving range. I had coupons for free buckets of balls thats only reason I went. what a mistake,it was waste of my time. The range is pitiful excuse for a driving range. There were no yardage markers, there were huge clumps of dead grass everywhere ( because they mowed it when it was soaking wet) All the balls were filthy mixed bag of balls they dug outta the course ponds and half of them were cut open from lawnmower blades running them over. I dont know how they can call that a driving range? I have seen cow pastures in better condition. If I didnt use my free coupon I would have DEMANDED a refund. I strongly encourage anybody thinking of going to the range or the golf course to stay home and save your money or go to another course.

walnut run is a bowling alley of a course. houses line the fairways like trees should! i couldnt tell difference between fairways and rough or OB for that matter. the owners & staff seem more interested in somebody bringing a bottle of water from home & not purchasing it in THEIR clubhouse as if were a crime! they have a no cooler policy. im sorry if i like a cold beverage when its 95 degrees in the shade. they should care more about running a golf course instead of a bar. its typical snobby cortland course, they made me feel as if they were doing me a favor by letting me golf there instead of being gracious i chose to golf there. ive seen bigger and better greens at my local putt putt course. total disgrace for the money. you couldnt pay me to golf there again. (the owner gave me 2 free greens passes for my troubles I had on course, like being hit by a ball struck by a 14 year old with no adult present, needless to say i threw them away in parking lot) i have no intentions of ever returning EVER! P.S. hire a greenskeeper instead of a bar bouncer & fix ur carts, mine had no brakes at all,(lawsuit waiting to happen)not that they care as long as i bought my dasani water there im sure they are happy,,,,TOTAL DISGRACE & POOR EXCUSE FOR A GOLF COURSE

They have installed new tee box markers, however they have NOT replaced/updated the score cards or hole signage to reflect the new yardages. It is of great importance, particularly on the par 3-s. This may not seem like a big deal, but I find this discrepancy to be a huge distraction and detractor.

Great course in the area! A little difficult, but worth checking out. Very unique layout with some houses along some of the holes and most are out of play. I read a review about not allowing coolers. This is correct, I brought my own cooler but was informed they had a beer license and their policy is no cooler. I can live with that as long as they supply me with one...which they did. Very friendly staff. I talked with one of the rangers who had been there for a few years. This place made me feel at home and I'll definitely go back! And they had a price on Tuesday that can't be beat!
